All of our cakes & cupcakes should be stored in the fridge!
Uncut and refrigerated, our cakes and cupcakes will stay fresh & moist for 5-7 days, so if you need to schedule your pick up a few days before your need-by date, no worries!
Our cakes taste better if the frosting is allowed at least 15-30 minutes out of the fridge to soften up (just as long as it's on the counter in air-conditioning, not outside in the heat). Cakes frosted with our chocolate buttercream need a bit longer on the counter to warm up, so take them out an hour before serving.
DO NOT leave your cake/cupcakes out on the counter overnight, or leave them outside for more than 5-10 minutes or in your car without a/c during warm or hot/humid weather--they absolutely will melt!
When transporting your cake, make sure it's on an even, level surface such as someone's lap or the floor of the front passengers seat or the trunk. If you leave the cake on a tilted surface like a car seat, you'll end up with a tilted cake! Make sure to crank your a/c and keep it out of direct sunlight.
Once your cake is cut, cover the exposed parts of the cake with plastic wrap, or slice and store slices in air-tight containers in the fridge.
Our cakes & cupcakes also freeze extremely well for months--just plastic wrap the box the cake is in and place in the freezer. Transfer it back into the fridge one full day before you plan on digging in so it has time to fully thaw. You can also slice the cake up and store individual slices in air-tight containers in the freezer.
Do not thaw your cake straight from the freezer at room temp--it will cause condensation on the top/sides of the cake which may make the sprinkles or garnishes get soggy. Note that the pretzels on the chocolate peanut butter pretzel cake might get a lil' soggy when thawing out, and so will the oreos on our cookies & cream cake, so that isn't a flavor we recommend for freezing if appearance is important to you. Other than that, the majority of our cakes freeze surprisingly well!
Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about any of this!
For the cleanest, prettiest cake slices, slice your cake right out of the fridge when it's cold using a hot knife (we suggest running it under warm water) and wipe down your knife in between each cut.
